The largest collection of art works by Frederic Remington are housed in Ogdensburg, NY, at the Remington Art Museum. 

When ever I visit there, I always find myself drawn to the painting "End of a Day" a large nocturnal oil.  That painting is the inspiration for this painting.  Not only did I want to share the same subject of night, snow and the horse, but also the mood and feeling.
