The brilliance of late day sun is the subject of this simple yet intriguing composition.  Depth is enhanced by a double layer of trees and water that compound the reflected ambient light to create an inner glow.  The dark warm shapes of the hardwoods and conifers are silhouetted against the larger body of water in the background, while dark clumps of marsh grass lead the eye on a zig zag journey through the picture plane.
