In the North Country February is the
longest, shortest month of the year. It's like winter limbo; stuck between
seasons. In can be 30 below, a howling blizzard or as depicted here, a few
days stretch of mild snowless weather, when you may actually be able to do
some outside work, but don't count on it.
Out of the bosom of the Air, Out of the
cloud-folds of her garments shaken, Over the woodlands brown and bare, Over
the harvest-fields forsaken, Silent, and soft, and slow Descends the snow.
Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, Snowflakes
This acrylic painting was first
released as a card image in 1990. The house was between Heuvelton and
Flackville and is now gone. It is now available as a limited edition giclee
print.
