Well it may not have been the very last one out, but one of the last.  It was the end of the second in December, winter arrived early that year, and the St. Lawrence River was laden with ice and it caused the locks to jam up and several ships had to anchor and wait.  When the problem was finally fixed, it was a mad scramble to exit the Seaway system before it was closed for the season just before Christmas.
